Turn your dreams into Financial Goals

If you allowed yourself to dream wildly… what would it be?

I once heard this question from someone who’s big in the manifesting space. It’s a great question and one that my answer regularly changes.

It really is tapping into the human psyche and allowing us to IMAGINE big! It reminds me of the quote “we are limited only by our imagination and our will to act”-Ron Garan.

Almost all hopes and dreams do rest on financial success. Whether that’s being financial enough to have the time to invest in these dreams and having the capital to bring these dreams to life.

Is it regular travel? Living overseas? Having well educated children? A certain amount in your bank account? Whatever your wildest dream is – it takes thoughtful planning to come to fruition.

For me, I probably am living my wildest dream. My children are healthy, attending good schools. My partner is healthy and our marriage is strong.

I have great hobbies that help me stay grounded. Probably for me at the moment – I’m not achieving as much as I would like in my hobbies. Why is that? Most likely time and patience. And time and patience are 2 of the strongest determinants to financial success.

How to find your wildest dreams

(if they don’t come readily to you):

1. Journaling

Journalling is a great tool to tap into your unconscious.

Nobody knows what’s in their unconscious unless they activate it.

Writing is the trick.

If you start writing, the writing is a mirror to reflect your unconscious.

Things will come up that you didn’t know you knew.
Get a pen and paper – start writing!

2. Goal setting

Once you have your dreams, how are you going to get there?

Making achievable steps and this is where the “will to act” comes into play.

Meditation. Just 10 mins a day of guided mediation can unearth a lot. There are plenty free options online. Youtube is a great resource. My all time favourite is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfD4HaBBc0I

Money. Seeking advice from a financial advisers to achieve your goals and dreams.

Time. Setting aside a small amount of time each day to work through these steps will have you on a clear path forward.

There are many avenues to dreams.

Some we may have never considered but are strongly linked to our values.
Here are some broad banners to consider:

Freedom Dreams:

  • It might be, never having to work for money again
(not total retirement but total choice)

  • Taking a year off without your finances falling in a heap
  • Being able to say ‘no’ to a job, a client or situation as money is
    no longer the deciding factor

Buying Back Time:

  • What if the dream isn’t more stuff, but more time?
  • Could be a cleaner, gardener or some other household help
  • Working 4 days instead of 5
  • Retiring at 50, not because you hate work but because you
want time to belong to you

Generosity Dreams:

  • People often dream about what money could do for other people
  • Paying off your parent’s mortgage
  • Setting up the kids with a house deposit
  • An education scholarship: funding someone else’s education
  • Quietly paying for a friend’s medical treatment, a holiday or a fresh start

The ‘Ridiculously Specific’ Dream:

  • If money wasn’t a consideration, what ridiculously specific thing would you do
  • Buying a tiny home in the country and filling it with your favourite animals
  • Buying a boat even though you have no idea how to sail!
  • Flying business class for the rest of your life (yes please!)
  • Opening a tiny business that makes no economic sense but brings you joy

Dreams about your Children’s Future:

  • Your kids never have to stay in an unsafe relationship because they couldn’t afford to leave.
  • Being able to help them buy their first home
  • Giving them financial freedom so they can take some career risk
  • Being a financial safety net without controlling their lives.

The dream you don’t admit because it sounds frivolous:

  • What would you do if you didn’t have to justify the purchase?
  • What would make your life feel ridiculously good?

The Psychological Dream:

  • What if your wildest dream isn’t a number?
  • “I want money to stop occupying my brain space”
  • Not having to check the bank balance before you get groceries, say yes to the dinner invite or wondering if you can afford Christmas
